What to bring from Baikal in summer or winter from souvenirs? In this article, we share tips for tourists that will help you choose the right gift for yourself and your loved ones.
A small digression for those who did not understand the photo from above, this ceremony on Lake Baikal means your life, the higher the tower of stones, the more luck you will have.
What to bring from Baikal - advice and personal experience
Fish
First of all, everyone who goes to rest on the lake must not only try, but also bring their relatives to try the Baikal omul, which is of three types:
- cold smoked omul,
- hot smoked omul,
- dried omul.
Of course, the markets are found not only omul (now they sell omul under the guise peled), grayling is also sold, it is slightly larger in size, slightly fatter in taste, and, accordingly, at a higher price. I wrote about all the prices for omul and other prices that can be encountered here in my separate article - 'Prices for rest on Lake Baikal in the summer'.
Sagudai
Three types of omul are indispensable here. Personally, I like to try light-salted omul. I definitely advise you to try a delicious dish called Sagudai (salted omul, onion, pepper, lemon), which I always order when I come to rest on Olkhon Island.
Pine nuts
If you are resting on Lake Baikal at the end of summer, then you are very lucky, you have the opportunity to buy and taste the freshest pine nuts, of course you can go and chop it yourself in the forest, which I do every year, but not every tourist knows the place , therefore, as a souvenir from Lake Baikal, we buy cones, peeled nuts, nuts with honey.
Strawberry
Not very suitable for a souvenir, as it quickly deteriorates, but you should definitely try it if you are relaxing near Baikalsk from July to August, guess what I'm talking about? Baikal Victoria! Recently I went to Baikalsk and tried all the varieties, took photographs, so if anyone is interested in looking at it with my eyes, then here is an article about strawberries on the coast of a Siberian lake.
Crafts from natural stone
The most excellent souvenir that can be purchased on the shores of Lake Baikal is caskets made of natural stone, this souvenir is intended most of all for a tourist from abroad, since such boxes are far from cheap, for example, a 10 cm by 15 cm box made of charoite (a natural lilac stone) costs about 5,000 rubles. Such a box can be purchased in any place where tourists gather, for example, in the village of Listvyanka or at the stalls near the Olkhon ferry.
Herbs
Another souvenir that will allow you to improve your health is Siberian herbs, here I will not list everything for you, there are a lot of them, but I buy one herb all the time, it is called Sagaan-Dali, it tones up well and brings pressure back to normal. Most often, such herbs can be bought already in fees, for example, collection from pressure, collection from insomnia, breast collection and others.
Souvenir toys
The toy is also part of a souvenir that can be brought from Lake Baikal; recently, all drivers are actively buying a white plush seal for their ‘torpedo’ car. It comes in several sizes, the smallest seal costs about 700 rubles (15 centimeters).
What else can you bring?
What else can you bring from Lake Baikal from the less demanded? You can walk along the shore and find some very interesting stones from the shore of the Siberian lake. Take a huge number of photos of Baikal souvenirs. When you start viewing such photos, you are drawn back to nature and the places where you rested.
Who said that there is no energy on Lake Baikal? It is worth visiting the shore of the lake and you will be drawn here until the end of your days.
And the last thing that can be brought from Baikal is small souvenirs. Such souvenirs can be purchased everywhere, as a rule, these are ordinary Chinese trinkets, but it will still be much more pleasant to buy here than in the Chinese market in the city.
And of course, the most sought-after souvenir among all tourists, which I left in the last place, so that it does not irritate your eyes - fridge magnet! Without it, nowhere!
