Our tips and tricks on where and how to rent a villa in Thailand. How much does it cost to rent a house by the sea for a month in 2021?
The material was prepared for winterers, family tourists, lovers of solitude ... In a word, for everyone who believes that a villa in Thailand is an ideal habitat, regardless of the length of the vacation. In the winter of 2018, we ourselves spent 2 months in Phuket and Krabi 🙂
There are three ways to rent a villa in Thailand:
- directly upon arrival in the country, i.e. book a hotel room for a couple of days and cycle along the coast, looking for signs “house for rent”;
- by contacting agencies / realtors / friends, etc .;
- online on special services for finding accommodation RoomGuru and Airbnb.
We will tell you about the last method, which we ourselves often use. In the heat, I don't really want to go from house to house and arrange views. And it’s not a fact that having arrived even at the beginning of the season, you don’t have to end up renting what a villa can be called a stretch. all decent options have long been booked by enterprising winterers. Therefore, two months before the trip, we begin to actively monitor the proposals of the aforementioned sites.
The villas presented on RoomGuru are mainly resort hotels located in huge enclosed areas and consisting of several villas. Lost in the jungle bungalows by the sea will not be found here, but there are more than enough luxury options.
Airbnb is suitable for renting a villa in Thailand directly from the owner, and apartments can be found in any price range and degree of luxury. What we love about the site is the truthfulness of the reviews; they can only be left by registered users who actually lived in this accommodation option.

Prices for renting a villa in Thailand
We will look at the cost of houses in the most popular parts of Tai - in Pattaya and on the islands of Phuket and Koh Samui.
First, a few nuances:
- The cheapest villa rental in Thailand will be released in Pattaya and Koh Samui (from 5500 and 4000 rubles per day, respectively). Phuket is more expensive, from 7,000 rubles.
- Renting a house for a month is more profitable than for a couple of weeks. Moreover, airbnb often offers a 30-40% discount for bookings longer than 30 days.
- Obviously, but still: the farther from the sea, the lower the prices for renting a villa. A good choice, especially if you rent a bike like us for moving around the island.
- The peak season on the coast is in December-March, and the cost usually rises on these dates.
- Most often villas with several bedrooms are rented in Thailand. Consequently, the price tag of 150,000 rubles per month looks less intimidating when divided by more than 3-4 people.
Villa in Pattaya
South Pattaya, with the districts of Jomtien and Pratumnak, is the part of the city where the most spacious apartments with a private pool are rented.
Firstly, there is a pier nearby, from where you can sail to the islands with the purest water, and secondly, the place is calm, not suffering from the noise of the central regions, but despite the privacy, there is a lot of entertainment for both adults and children. Minus - difficulties with transport links, you will have to either walk to the nearest stop, or rent a car or bike.
How much does it cost to rent a villa in Pattaya? Near the beach, with all basic amenities + swimming pool - from 7-8 thousand rubles per day. When choosing accommodation, pay attention to the possible deposit, additional electricity / water bill, cleaning fees. We tried to find offers without "pitfalls", but if there are any, then we mention it.
The best villas in Pattaya
1. Budget tie-style
In general, in Pattaya, a villa can cost from 4,333 rubles per night. For example, the 2-storey version accommodating 4 people from the Sunrise Villa Resort.
For a low price, you will have to sacrifice a little comfort - the location is not the most convenient, you need four wheels - and privacy - this is a complex of villas, and therefore the pool is shared. The rest of the villa is beautiful: fully equipped with everything you need (including a kitchen), decorated in a modern European style (although it is positioned as a thai-style), in the courtyard there is tropical vegetation, cleanliness is maintained at the proper level.

2. For families with children
Renting a villa in Pattaya for a family will cost 7442 rubles per day. For a week, guests receive a 21% discount, and for a month - all 30%.
To relax with kids, the house provides a cot, a small playground in the yard and, of course, a kitchen equipped for cooking. Located on the coast, Jomtien Beach is 7 minutes walk, but also has a private pool. To the center - about 10 minutes by tuk-tuk. The hosts can accommodate up to 6 people, although they are ready to accommodate 9 people for an additional fee. Wi-fi, like electricity with tap water, is completely free.

3) Villa from the hotel-resort
In the region of 11,100 rubles a day in Pattaya, you can rent a completely "luxury" option, the only thing that is 2 km from the sea. This is hardly a disadvantage, since for those who do not like open (and dirty) water, a swimming pool is set up on the patio, and an organized transfer takes you to the beach. The villa belongs to the hotel, i.e. located in a closed mini-town, but privacy is provided at the level. You can only meet strangers in a fitness club, spa or restaurant.

4) Balinese design villa
A cool option for a large company that didn't make it to Bali because of the volcano. 🙂 Seriously, a 7-bedroom house (14 guests), decorated in traditional Indonesian style down to the smallest detail, a spacious pool, breakfasts with a choice of Thai or European cuisine and a manager who is open to any suggestions, but still looking out so that guests do not piss off any - some local Balinese deity. Rent a villa in Phuket
When looking for a luxury home on the island, first of all, keep the purpose of your trip in mind.
If wintering is planned, we advise you to settle in areas:
- Chalong,
- Rawai.
Housing is inexpensive, and it is convenient to get to Phuket town, where it is cheapest to buy groceries for a week or two. In addition, it is quiet and peaceful here, because these places are unpopular for mass tourism. However, the beaches are not at all a delight, and you can't do without a bike / car. So, for a long term (month) renting a villa in Phuket in Chalong will cost from 195,000 rubles.
Well, if you arrived on the island for 2 weeks with a simple intention to hang out or lie like a seal on the seashore, the beach areas:
- Patong,
- Kata,
- Karon
excellent for the location. It will not work to rent a villa here on a budget, because this is the center of the tourist life of Phuket, but there are kilometers of clean sand and whole streets with nightlife.
The best villas in Phuket
1. Romantic for two
Prices for a more or less decent villa for two start at 7830 rubles. Of course, it will be located in the southern or eastern part of the island, although, on the other hand, is this not a plus? Solitude in a Thai village, in cool conditions and even with a pool is quite a pleasant scenario. 🙂

2. Villa on Karon
Connoisseurs of privacy will also like it - it is 5 minutes to the beach, but the house itself is modestly settled in the mountains, without attracting the eyes of strangers. The cost is 11,680 rubles per day. 3. A secluded villa in the party Patong
Renting a villa with a swimming pool in Phuket, in the most promoted part of it, with a stunning view of the beach from the terrace, costs from 25,000 rubles. This is one of those places where you can sleep peacefully at night despite the "humming" Patong under the windows. Due to its location - the villa is located on a hill - there are problems with moving around the island, it is most convenient to take a taxi or a rented car. From the inside, everything is the same as in the photo - chic bedrooms with panoramic windows and a modern kitchen.

- Lipa Noi (complete seclusion),
- Mae Nam (ideal coast at any time of the year),
- Chongmon (the most lively of the mentioned, not far from the party "mecca" - Chaweng).
All three are characterized by calm seas, while waves rage on Lamai and Chaweng, Koh Samui's most popular beaches. In the spring and summer, the situation changes in the opposite direction.
