The article about the districts of Kazan has been asking for a very long time. We live in the capital of Tatarstan, we have been running this blog since 2015, and only that year we were “ripe” for a text about the most interesting places in the city.
Now it is the turn of the following tips for tourists - where is it better to stay in Kazan? Over the ten years of my residence, I have changed 4 districts of Kazan. In this material, succinctly and succinctly:
- I will tell you where it is more profitable and more convenient for a tourist to live in order to see the main places of interest without hassle;
- I will share a list of nice apartments for rent and good, inexpensive hotels;
- I will also give you a couple of tips on excellent establishments in glorious Kazan!
Districts of Kazan - which is the best choice for a tourist?
Where is the best place for tourists to stay in Kazan for 3 days? A good choice would be the Vakhitovsky district to reach Bauman Street on foot, or the Moskovsky district within the Kozya Sloboda metro station. But if the purpose of your trip is, for example, the Riviera water park for the weekend, then it is logical to settle in Novo-Savinovskiy next to the park.
I noticed that many guidebooks claim that a tourist will be interested exclusively in the Vakhitovsky district. This is the central district of Kazan, and it is really convenient - but I would advise you to choose accommodation anywhere there is a metro. There is only one branch in Kazan, direct, and even from the farthest station you can get to the city center in 20 minutes. Housing in the center of Kazan is more expensive, why not save some money?
Fortunately for the tourist, there are only 7 districts in the city:
- Vakhitovsky
- Kirovsky
- Moskovsky
- Aircraft building
- Novo-Savinovsky
- Privolzhsky
- Soviet

Where would I NOT LOOK for accommodation? This is an area near Mega, and indeed the entire Soviet area, and near the XL shopping center (Novo-Savinovo). They are united by a poor transport interchange; they have to get to the center with transfers and long waiting times. I would not want to live near the railway station either - it is vain, dirty - only if you do not leave by train early in the morning.
The metro certainly helps out (travel is 30 rubles). But if you consider that a taxi in Kazan is relatively inexpensive, on average 150-200 rubles in the city with Yandex, a company of 2-4 people can stay in any of the above-described areas.

Everything here is like in any other city:
- either a hotel / hostel,
- or renting an apartment in Kazan.
If it is customary to book hotels on RoomGuru and Booking, or in general in the bank's application, then there is one wonderful site for renting an apartment - Airbnb.ru. I use it both abroad and in Russia.
Why an apartment? To live like home, like a local! Airbnb is not some Avito, it is an international service with real photos of apartments, honest reviews and the responsibility of the owner to the guest enshrined in the rules. For the first booking on Airbnb there is a discount of up to 4000 rubles, it is just by the link. This is at least 1 night free. Nice, huh? :)
Why don't I recommend Avito? Recently, friends came to see my parents in Kazan. They are modern people, they know the Internet, they chose an apartment on Avito. As a result: upon arrival, I did not like the place (smoky, dirty), I had to urgently look for another option in the soap. |

The apartment is freshly renovated, a lot of space and comfortable. An interesting point - the bed folds into the closet. I always wanted this :) There is only one minus in the apartment: not the best entrance, people complain about it.
The area is Vakhitovsky, and you can't imagine a better place to stay in Kazan to visit places and see the city. The center can be reached in 10-15 minutes on foot.
Nearby, on Shchapova Street, there are some of the classy and fashionable establishments of Kazan - Skuratov coffee shop, Currant cafe-confectionery for breakfast and Port bar for lunches and dinners.

# 2. APARTMENT IN THE MOST COZY AREA OF KAZAN

Apartment in the central district of Kazan near Shchapova street. Plus the location is quiet and peaceful, this is the old center. Bauman Street and Kazan Kremlin nearby.
Throughout my experience with Airbnb, I realized that the option of "self-arrival", when there is a combination lock or a key in the safe for access to the apartment, is wildly convenient. The owner in the correspondence gives you the code, and you come at any time and check in. This is the case with these apartments.
Next to this and the previous version is the Black Lake Park - one of the most "local" in Kazan. It's great to see off the sunset and have picnics in the summer.

The apartment is located in the Novo-Savinovsky district. Although it is considered to be sleeping, there is a long promenade with bicycle and pedestrian paths nearby, the Riviera water park, several parks, including the Victory Park. You can get to the center by metro (it's about 20 minutes walk), or by taxi (it will cost about 100-130 rubles on a weekday).
And there is also a sandy beach nearby!

An apartment in a building, which is located almost in the center, one might say, an apartment near the Kremlin and overlooking the same direction. Reviews of tourists note the fresh renovation and cleanliness (for me this is also the main thing).
Across the road is the Kyrlay amusement park with carousels and a Ferris wheel. If you are looking for where to stay in Kazan with a child, this apartment and area is a great option.
But for a cool renovation and a new house, the owner asks for twice the average price of housing in Kazan.

For those who could not find places in the Riviera hotel (well, or is it expensive, which is really so), a good option is an apartment opposite the complex. What can I say, according to reviews, everyone wants to return to this apartment!
If you really plan on going to the Riviera Waterpark, the apartment is great. But if you intend to walk more around the city, I would choose more convenient areas.

If you want to walk to Bauman Street as quickly as possible, explore the main sights of the city on your own, this apartment will do. Nice view from the window, clean apartment with new renovation (the house was also built several years ago).
It is located on a small hill, near the central shopping center Koltso and the shopping center Respublika with the Magnit hypermarket. If you are with a stroller, you can get there, the ascent is not so steep. But just in case, you can check with the landlord.

Good hotels and hostels in Kazan
The hospitality industry in Kazan is flourishing and growing - our city has already hosted the Universiade, the World Swimming and Football Championships, and WordSkills. And there is still at least the next World Championships in water sports. It is difficult (and foolish) not to develop under such pressure from foreign tourists and the constant flow of domestic tourists.
Here's what I recommend from Kazan hotels:
- 3 * Ibis Kazan is an excellent budget chain hotel. Very center, simple rooms for "spending the night". The hotel is an order of magnitude cheaper than the following, so it makes no sense to compare them.
Price per night: from 3300 rubles. The rating of the hotel is 8.5 (950+ reviews). - 3 * Hotel Lampa - located on Schapova Street, next to Lyadsky Garden. This is a quiet area, with popular establishments such as the Smorodin confectionery and the Marusovka restaurant. We often come here, and every time we see how in summer the guests of the Lampa Hotel have a cozy breakfast on the terrace on the street.
Price per night: from 3500 rubles (breakfast included). The rating of the hotel is 9.1 (700+ reviews). - 3 * Park Hotel is a super simple, inexpensive hotel. Small and in the very center - across the road is the Millennium Park, five minutes from the Koltso shopping center, the main metro station and Bauman with all its adjacent attractions.
Price per night: from 2700 rubles (breakfast included). The rating of the hotel is 8.8 (1500+ reviews). - 4 * Ramada Kazan City Center is a hotel in the center of Kazan, five minutes from Bauman Street. Those who come to the city for work often stay here, well, and Messi spent the night in 2018 during the World Cup :) I was abroad in this chain of hotels, I liked everything.
Price per night: from 6000 rubles (breakfast included). The rating of the hotel is 9.5 (2000+ reviews). - 3 * Nogai - as for me, this is the most popular hotel in Kazan, there are ALWAYS tourists here. The hotel is located right on Bauman Street, about 15 minutes walk to the embankment and the Kremlin. Rooms are clean, freshly renovated and pleasant interior. Bathrobes, slippers, tea - everything you need is in the room.
Price per night: from 5500 rubles (breakfast included), hotels in the center of Kazan are expensive, yes. Rating 9.4 (2400+ reviews). - 4 * Double Tree By Hilton is one of the famous chain of the famous brand. All is not present, but how else can it be in the Hilton. The price is appropriate. The hotel is also located in the center next to the Kazan "Arbat".
Price per night: from 6,600 rubles. The rating of the hotel is 9.1 (1400+ reviews).
Well, to stay in Kazan inexpensively, HOSTELS are suitable:

- 2 * People Hostel - rating 9.7; night in a shared room from 1000 rubles per person
- 2 * Hostel Wings - rating 9.2; night in dormitory room from 700 rubles per person
Hostel Wings and People are centrally located, all with good reviews and ratings. Kapslok - in the Novo-Savinovsky district, next to the Victory Park and the Park House shopping center.
Let me remind you that although Booking in Kazan works, I prefer to search for hotels and hostels on RoomGuru - because this service monitors and compares prices of about ten hotel booking systems, including Booking. Accordingly, everything that is more profitable - he will show.
If you are looking for an inexpensive hotel in Kazan, then I would advise you to look at the apartments and apartments for rent first, and then (if you don’t find it) head towards budget hotels or hostels.
My tips for Kazan and reviews of tourists
What can I advise you ...
- If you come to Kazan by your own car, then you should know that parking in the city is free on weekends. Even in the center.
- Recently, we have a scooter sharing - that is, electric scooters are scattered around the city, they can be rented through the Whoosh app, ride and return at the nearest station, which are also marked in the app. A trip of 25 minutes costs ≈ 250 rubles. Unfortunately, there are no promotional codes for the first trips, but I would have shared it.
- How to get from the airport? I recommend not to bother and order a Yandex taxi (a good price - 400-500 rubles to the center). Alas, there is no intelligible and regular public transport from Kazan airport.
Even cheaper than a taxi, you can get by car sharing from Yandex.Drive - download the application and enter the reftz5CP2 promo code, get a 50% discount on your first ride. - Often my girlfriend, as the editor-in-chief of the site and the blogger on Instagram, is asked, "Please, advise where in Kazan ..." - and most of the questions end with "... eat Tatar cuisine." We have a universal answer:
— Tyubetey - cheap, fast and nationally, this is a Tatar fast food chain. Take ochpochmak-free (tiny triangles in a bag) and kystyby, and you are responsible for the filling. Be careful, if you drip oil on clothes, it is difficult to wash.
— Chiram - one of the typical restaurants on the Kremlin embankment, a true representative of the Tatar milli rizyklary (Tatar cuisine). There is horse meat, balish, chak-chak, and manty. The average bill is 800-1000 rubles per person.
— Tatar estate - prices are slightly lower than in Chirem. In addition to Tatar cuisine, there is also European cuisine.
